Accessibility
We want Tesserra to be playable by as many people as possible. This page lists what works today, what doesn’t yet, and how to tell us about a barrier.
Last updated: October 10, 2026
What works today
- Keyboard play: move the cube with the arrow keys. Undo with Ctrl + Z and redo with Ctrl + Y. Esc closes menus and overlays. Press ? in the game to see every shortcut, including G for settings and B for the leaderboard.
- Touch: swipe to move, or turn on the on-screen D-pad in Settings.
- Not just color: turn on Show Cube Numbers in Settings to match faces by number as well as color.
- Reduced motion: if your device asks for reduced motion, the start screen switches to mode selection without the crossfade, and the saving indicator holds still instead of folding.
- Zoom: browser zoom (Ctrl or Cmd with + and −) works in the game and on these pages, and you can pinch-zoom these pages. On the game board itself, touch gestures are used to move the cube, so pinch-zoom is not available there.
- Sound: music and sound effects can be turned off separately in Settings. Sound is never needed to play.
- Site pages such as this one use real headings, landmarks, and text links.
Known gaps
- The game board is a 3D scene drawn on a canvas. Screen readers can’t describe the board or the cube yet.
- Background effects and particle bursts still animate when reduced motion is on. You can turn off Reactive Background Effects in Settings.
- Some menus and dialogs have not been fully tested with screen readers or keyboard-only navigation.
We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA on menus and site pages. We have not had an independent audit, so we don’t claim full conformance.
